African Suya (Spiced Beef Skewers)

Ingredients

  • 600g beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • For yaji spice: 100g roasted peanuts (ground), 1 tbsp paprika, 1 tbsp ginger, 1 tbsp garlic powder, 2 tsp cayenne, 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp bouillon powder, 1/2 tsp clove
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • Wooden skewers, soaked
  • Sliced onion, tomato, cabbage to serve

Instructions

  1. Toast the peanuts and grind to a powder.
  2. Mix with the other spices.
  3. Coat the beef strips in oil, then dredge in the yaji mix.
  4. Thread onto skewers.
  5. Grill over high heat 2-3 minutes a side until just cooked.
  6. Dust with extra yaji before serving.
