Tamarind Date Chutney

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp tamarind paste
  • 100g dates, pitted and chopped
  • 2 tbsp jaggery or brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 300ml water

Instructions

  1. Add everything to a small pot.
  2. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10-12 minutes until the dates are soft and the sauce has thickened.
  3. Blend smooth and strain through a sieve for a glossy finish.
  4. Cool before serving.
