Chana Chaat

Ingredients

  • 2 cans chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1 small red onion, finely diced
  • 2 tomatoes, finely diced
  • 1 green chilli, finely chopped
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 tsp chaat masala
  • 1/2 tsp roasted cumin powder
  • 1/4 tsp red chilli powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Handful of fresh coriander, chopped

Instructions

  1. Tip the chickpeas into a large bowl.
  2. Add the onion, tomato and green chilli.
  3. Sprinkle over the chaat masala, cumin, chilli powder and salt.
  4. Squeeze in the lemon juice and toss everything together.
  5. Fold through the coriander, taste, and adjust the lemon and salt before serving.

  • A drizzle of tamarind sauce or a spoon of yoghurt makes it extra special.
