Ingredients

  • 250g plain flour
  • 50g sugar
  • 1 tsp instant yeast
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 180ml warm water
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Mix the flour, sugar, yeast, salt and nutmeg.
  2. Add the warm water and stir into a thick, sticky batter.
  3. Cover and let rise for 1 hour until bubbly.
  4. Heat oil to medium.
  5. Scoop small balls of batter with wet hands or a spoon and drop into the oil.
  6. Fry until deep golden, turning, then drain.
