Dutch Stroopwafels

Ingredients

  • For waffles: 250g flour, 100g sugar, 1 tsp yeast, 1 egg, 100g butter melted, 100ml milk, 1 tsp cinnamon
  • For syrup: 200g brown sugar, 100g golden syrup, 60g butter, 1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Mix waffle dough; rest 30 minutes.
  2. Cook small balls in a hot waffle iron until thin and crisp.
  3. While still hot, slice each horizontally with a sharp serrated knife.
  4. Make syrup: cook all ingredients until thick and dark.
  5. Sandwich the syrup between waffle halves.
  6. Press lightly.
