Ingredients

  • 500g beef mince
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 green pepper, diced
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 200ml passata
  • 3 tbsp ketchup
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 4 soft burger buns
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Brown the mince with the onion, pepper and garlic.
  2. Stir in the tomato paste, passata, ketchup, sugar, Worcestershire and mustard.
  3. Simmer 10 minutes until thick.
  4. Spoon onto split buns and serve immediately.

  • Cook until just thick, not dry — they should be saucy.
  • Toast the buns to stop them going soggy.
