Hungarian Lángos

Deep-fried Hungarian flatbread topped with garlic oil, soured cream and cheese — Budapest's addictive street snack.

Ingredients

  • 400g flour
  • 1 tsp yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 250ml warm milk
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • Oil for frying
  • For topping: 4 garlic cloves crushed with 3 tbsp oil, soured cream, grated cheese

Instructions

  1. Mix dough; rise 1 hour.
  2. Divide into 4 balls; flatten each to a thick disc.
  3. Fry in 180C oil 1-2 minutes a side until puffed and golden.
  4. Brush with garlic oil while hot.
  5. Top with soured cream and cheese.
