Crispy Tofu

Golden cubes of tofu with a shatteringly crisp coating — the perfect base for stir-fries, bowls or just snacking.

Ingredients

  • 400g firm tofu
  • 3 tbsp cornflour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • Optional sauce: soy, sesame oil, garlic, ginger

Instructions

  1. Press tofu wrapped in a tea towel under a weight for 30 minutes.
  2. Cube the tofu.
  3. Toss in cornflour, salt and pepper.
  4. Pan-fry in oil over medium-high heat 6-8 minutes, turning, until all sides are golden and crisp.
  5. Drain on paper.
  6. Toss in sauce if using.

  • Don't stir too often — let each side brown before turning.
