German Bratwurst with Sauerkraut

Ingredients

  • 8 bratwurst sausages
  • 500g sauerkraut, drained
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 apple, sliced
  • 1 tsp caraway seeds
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 100ml white wine or apple juice
  • German mustard, rye bread to serve

Instructions

  1. Pan-fry the bratwurst over medium heat 12-15 minutes, turning, until golden and cooked.
  2. Meanwhile, soften onion in butter.
  3. Add sauerkraut, apple and caraway; pour in wine.
  4. Simmer 10 minutes until the apple softens.
  5. Pile bratwurst on the kraut.
  6. Serve with mustard and rye bread.
