Tuna Pasta Bake

Pasta in a creamy tuna and sweetcorn sauce, topped with cheese and baked until golden — a budget family favourite.

Ingredients

  • 350g pasta
  • 2 cans tuna, drained
  • 1 can sweetcorn, drained
  • For sauce: 40g butter, 40g flour, 600ml milk, 150g grated cheese
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • Salt and pepper
  • Breadcrumbs (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta until just al dente; drain.
  2. Make a cheese sauce: melt the butter, stir in the flour, whisk in the milk until thick, then most of the cheese and the mustard.
  3. Mix in the tuna, sweetcorn and pasta.
  4. Tip into a dish, top with the rest of the cheese and breadcrumbs.
  5. Bake at 200C for 20 minutes until golden.

  • Keep the pasta al dente so it does not turn mushy.
  • A handful of breadcrumbs adds a lovely crunch.
