American Meatballs in Marinara

Ingredients

  • 500g beef mince
  • 250g pork mince
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 100ml milk
  • 1 egg
  • 60g parmesan
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • Handful parsley
  • Salt and pepper
  • For sauce: 2 cans chopped tomatoes, 1 onion, 4 garlic cloves, 1 tsp oregano, basil, olive oil

Instructions

  1. Soak the breadcrumbs in the milk for 5 minutes.
  2. Mix with the meats, egg, parmesan, garlic, parsley and seasoning.
  3. Shape into large balls.
  4. Brown in oil all over; set aside.
  5. For the sauce, soften the onion and garlic, add the tomatoes and oregano; simmer 15 minutes.
  6. Return the meatballs and simmer 25 minutes.
  7. Tear in basil before serving.
